Kozyrev N. A.

Possibility of Experimental Study of Properties of Time

Time is the most important and most enigmatic property of nature. The concept of time surpasses our imagination. The recondite attempts to understand the nature of time by the philosophers of antiquity, the scholars in the Middle Ages, and the modern scientist, possessing a knowledge of sciences and the experience of their history, have proven fruitless. Probably this occurs because time involves the most profound and completely unknown properties of the world which can scarcely be envisaged by the bravest flight of human fancy. ...

Levich A. P.

A substantial interpretation of N. A. Kozyrev's conception of time

N.A.Kozyrev, an outstanding astronomer and natural scientist, enriched the dynamic picture of the World by introducing a new entity, possessing “active properties” and coinciding with neither matter, nor field, nor space-time in its usual understanding.

This entity is difficult not only for intuitive or logical perception but also for a verbal description since a proper complex of concepts and images for dealing with the new ideas is yet to be developed. The researchers “read” N.A. Kozyrev’s works in different ways, accentuating different aspects and viewing the subject from different angles. Thus naturally non-coinciding interpretations of N.A. Kozyrev’s ideas come into existence. I.A. Yeganova exposes N.A. Kozyrev’s views by introducing a “meta-interaction, embracing the whole material world and mediating the existence of all the manifestations of matter by self-regulation in a unified universal process” (Yeganova 1984, p.2). Therewith it cannot be excluded that “there exists a material carrier (a certain medium), directly “converting” cause into effect” (Yeganova 1984, p.32). S.M. Korotayev (see his chapter in this volume) stresses in N.A. Kozyrev’s time conception the causal nature of the fundamental irreversibility, also recognising that N.A. Kozyrev’s causal mechanics contains a substantial time construction.

In the present review it is suggested to look at N.A. Kozyrev’s ideas basically from the standpoint of their substantial interpretation.

     An Electrically Charged Torque Pendulum

Using precisely timed parts of each period of an oscillating torque pendulum, a determination of individual short-time events was made in sequence. ... Unexpected phenomena were noted as follows: (1) When the pendulum was charged electrically with different, carefully controlled electrostatic voltages, it was observed, that positive and negative charges caused different delays. (2) The time of swing follows in first approxi- mation a square law with a small negative bias. ...

1970 Solar Eclipse as "Seen" by a Torsion Pendulum

During the solar eclipse of 7 March 1970, readings were taken and recorded electro- nically of the times required for the torsion pendulum to rotate through a given fixed part of its path, involving both clockwise and counterclockwise motions, on its first swing from rest. Significant variations in these times were observed during the course of the eclipse as well as in the hours just preceding and just following the eclipse itself.

     The vibrating string controversy

In the mid-1700s a debate raged between Jean d'Alembert, Leonhard Euler, and Daniel Bernoulli concerning the proper solution to the classical wave equation. This controversy was partially solved by Lagrange and, more conclusively, by Fourier (50 years later) and it provides an interesting case study for the role of mathematics in the modeling of physical phenomena. Of particular note in this debate, was the meaning of boundary conditions. The controversy is summarized from the point of view of this mathematical physics perspective.

Realization of discrete states during fluctuations in

     macroscopic processes

It is shown that due to fluctuations, a sequence of discrete values is generated by successive measurement events whatever the type of the process measured. The corresponding histograms have much the same shape at any given time and for processes of a different nature and are very likely to change shape simulatenously for various processes and in widely distant laboratories. For a series of successive histograms, any given one is highly probably similar to its nearest neighbors and occurs repeatedly with a period of 24 hours, 27 days, and about 365 days, thus implying that the phenomenon has a very profound cosmophysical (or cosmogonic) origin.

Regular variation of the fine structure of statistical distributions

as a consequence of cosmophysical agents

Considered is the statistical ground of of cosmophysical effects of the fine structure of distributions governing the results of measurements in various physical processes. We show that the previously discussed effect of synchronous variations of histogram shapes in independent processes, and the periodical occurence of histograms of a particular shape, do not depend on the form of the integral distribution. The adequacy of visual (expert) estimation when comparing the shapes of histograms as an alternative to the standard statistical methods is justified.

Fine structure of distributions in measurements of different

processes as affected by geophysical and cosmophysical factors

The description of procedure of analyzing of similarity of histograms obtained from experimental time series is described. The biochemical and chemical kinetics, the electrophoretic mobility of cells and particles, water protons cross-relaxation time, neon lamp discharge time, earth crust vibrations, gravitational field gradient and the intensity of radioactive decay of different isotopes were measured by suitable methods. As a result of long-term measurements (during 1955-1997) of fluctuation distributions the existence of universal cosmophysical "force" was proved.

Structure of Distribution of Amplitude of Photomultiplier Dark Current Fluctuations as Correlated by the Earth Rotation.

We performed the comparison of the histogram patterns of photomultiplier dark current fluctuations with measurements made in two laboratories 2000 km distant from each other: in International Institute of Biophysics (Neuss, Germany) and in Moscow State University (Moscow, Russia). It is shown that similar form of appropriate histograms is positively more often realized at both locations at the same local time. This confirms the previous conclusion that dynamics of form of histogram in different processes correlates with Earth rotation.

Experimental Investigations of Changes in beta-decay rate of Co-60 and Cs-137

gResults of simultaneous measurements of beta-decay rate with the aid of Ge(Li)-detectors performed at two laboratories 140km apart (INR RAS, Troitsk, Co-60, and JINR, Dubna, Cs-137) during a period from 15.03.2000 till 10.04.2000, are presented. Regular deviations of the count rate of gamma-quanta following the beta-decay of ~0.7% (INR RAS, Co-60) and ~0.2% (JINR, Cs-137) from the statistical average, are observed. The analysis of extremum deviations of gamma-quanta count rate shows that the set of directions of tangents to the Earth's parallels of latitude at the extremum points of trajectories of motion in the space of each laboratory clearly forms three separate compact subsets of directions which agree, for two laboratories, to an accuracy of ±10°. This phenomenon is shown not to be explained on the basis of traditional notion. A possible explanation is suggested basing on the hypothesis that there exists a new anisotropic interaction caused by the cosmological vectorial potential Ag, a new fundamental constant having, according to the experiments carried out, the coordinate of right ascension a~285° in the second equatorial system. This is in agreement with earlier experiments.

Raumzeit

Process Physics
(english)

www.scieng.flinders.edu.au/cpes/people/cahill_r/processphysics.html

A new paradigm for the modelling of reality is currently being developed called Process Physics. In Process Physics we start from the premise that the limits to logic, which are implied by Gödel's incompleteness theorems, mean that any attempt to model reality via a formal system is doomed to failure. Instead of formal systems we use a process system, which uses the notions of self-referential noise and self-organised criticality to create a new type of information-theoretic system that is realising both the current formal physical modelling of reality but is also exhibiting features such as the direction of time, the present moment effect and quantum state entanglement (including EPR effects, nonlocality and contextuality), as well as the more familiar formalisms of Relativity and Quantum Mechanics. In particular a theory of Quantum Gravity has already emerged.
In short, rather than the static 4-dimensional modelling of present day (non-process) physics, Process Physics is providing a dynamic model where space and matter are seen to emerge from a fundamentally random but self-organising system. The key insight is that to adequately model reality we must move on from the traditional non-process syntactical information modelling to a process semantic information modelling; such information is `internally meaningful'.
