    Progress in understanding the physical world accelerated when men like Galileo, Newton, Faraday and Maxwell began to study nature and look for order and principles to explain what they saw. The great scientists put aside their biased opinions and agreed on an objective standard of validity. Scientific propositions also had to be consistent with all the known laws of physics.

     At the turn of the century, many new phenomena were discovered, including blackbody radiation, the photoelectric effect, and the spectra of hydrogen. These new phenomena were discovered in such a short time frame that scientists were unable to modify the electromagnetic theory fast enough to adequately explain them.      In 1992 a Russian chemist and physicist working in Finland, E. Podkletnov, reported in a technical article that he had observed, as unexpected by-product of measurements about high-Tc superconductors, a weak (0.3%) local modification of the gravitational acceleration. The article remained almost unknown. 
Podkletnov continued his experiments and improved the apparatus. At the end of 1994 he was contacted by an Italian physicist, G. Modanese, who had read his article and had conceived a theoretical model to explain the observed effect. Podkletnov confirmed that also the new apparatus was showing a local weak (now up to 0.5%) modification of the earth's pull. Modanese sent an electronic report to the Los Alamos archive in May 1995. This raised more interest in the phenomenon.

     A new paradigm for the modelling of reality is currently being developed called Process Physics. In Process Physics we start from the premise that the limits to logic, which are implied by Gödel's incompleteness theorems, mean that any attempt to model reality via a formal system is doomed to failure. Instead of formal systems we use a process system, which uses the notions of self-referential noise and self-organised criticality to create a new type of information-theoretic system that is realising both the current formal physical modelling of reality but is also exhibiting features such as the direction of time, the present moment effect and quantum state entanglement (including EPR effects, nonlocality and contextuality), as well as the more familiar formalisms of Relativity and Quantum Mechanics. In particular a theory of Quantum Gravity has already emerged.
     In short, rather than the static 4-dimensional modelling of present day (non-process) physics, Process Physics is providing a dynamic model where space and matter are seen to emerge from a fundamentally random but self-organising system. The key insight is that to adequately model reality we must move on from the traditional non-process syntactical information modelling to a process semantic information modelling; such information is `internally meaningful'.

     Hier ist eine Kraft direkt unter Ihren Füßen, die alles durchdringt, das ganze Universum zusammenhält und mit fast gleichbleibender Stärke, also nur sehr geringen Schwankungen, arbeitet.       Mein Interesse an der Schwerkraft erwachte als ich noch ein Kind war, ungefähr im Alter von acht Jahren. Ich spielte gewöhnlich stundenlang auf einer Schaukel und hielt verschiedene Gegenstände in der Hand, um ihre momentane Schwerelosigkeit während der Phase des Freien Falls beim Schaukeln zu beobachten. Nach diesen Anfängen wuchs mein Interesse, und ich habe es zu meiner Lebensaufgabe gemacht, herauszubekommen, wie man die Schwerkraft beherrschen kann.
